Combined GVC and A2CofC Multi-Rotor Renewal (CAA-Accredited)

PUBLIC TRAINING COURSE

Keep your drone qualifications up to date with our Zeta Combined GVC and A2CofC Renewal programme. Perfect for professionals ready to renew their 5-year certifications, our tailored programme equips you with the skills to continue operating drones safely and effectively across diverse industries.

Once you are within 6-months of your A2CofC/GVC expiry, you can apply to renew your qualification with EEI. You will be required to pass the theoretical assessment and, potentially, the practical flight assessment if we are unable to validate your 2-hours of currency.

EEI offers these assessments as standalone options for those who feel confident in their knowledge and piloting skills. However, if you feel a refresher course would help you build confidence prior to taking your assessments, EEI has a solution to suit your needs. Book your assessment dates below or enquire about our refresher courses.

Renewal Requirements

Theoretical Assessment

This can be a remote/online/in-person assessment, as required by you. You will be entitled to one attempt at passing the theoretical assessment and must achieve a pass mark of at least 75%. Failure to achieve this on the first attempt will require you to complete a theoretical refresher course with EEI to then attempt a second, different assessment paper. Assessment results are reported to the CAA for compliance tracking. If you feel that you would benefit from a theoretical refresh prior to attempting the assessment, please see the Refresher Course tab for details.

Practical Flight Assessment

This assessment will be conducted exclusively from our Lincoln HQ flying site (if you would rather do the assessment at our Swindon flying site, please enquire here).

EEI will provide you a single battery’s worth of flight to refresh yourself before attempting the assessment. All Remote Pilots (RP) are required to undertake and successfully pass the practical flight assessment unless the following exemption criteria are met:

  1. You must demonstrate to us a minimum of 2 hours of currency within the last three months preceding the GVC renewal application. Currency can be demonstrated in both the Open and Specific category; however, we must be able to verify it. To support this, EEI may ask for an accompanying statement of authenticity from your Accountable Manager. Failure to accurately demonstrate currency may require you to complete the full EEI GVC course.
  2. If your GVC is rated for both fixed wing and multi-rotor UAS, currency for each class must be demonstrated.
  3. Prior to the course, you must provide:
    a. Proof of identity
    b. Your current GVC certificate
    c. A valid flyer ID
    d. Complete flight logs for the previous 90 days demonstrating your currency.
    e. On request, your Accountable Manager’s statement of validity for your logbook hours.
  4. Under CAA regulation, EEI (as an accredited Recognised Assessment Entity or RAE) can request a skills demonstration by the RP if the competency level cannot be demonstrated through flight logs. Please note that if you did not complete your initial GVC with us, you will be required to conduct a skills demonstration regardless of whether you are current.
  5. An RAE can recommend additional training if there is cause for doubt that the competency level cannot be demonstrated or is not demonstrated as above.

  • Practical Flight Refresher Course: This will involve 4-batteries worth of one-to-one practical flight training delivered over a half day period from one of our flight sites plus a single assessment attempt. A further flight assessment can then be attempted. The theoretical assessment will be conducted as part of the Practical Flight Refresher Course. Cost: £299 exc VAT
  • Combined Refresher Course: This is delivered over a day and a half and combines the Theoretical and Practical refresher courses.
