Drones are a crucial tool in the oil industry, providing a range of benefits from infrastructure inspections to safety monitoring. Utilising drone technology can significantly enhance the efficiency, accuracy, and safety of oil rig operations. EEI offer comprehensive drone training programmes tailored specifically for professionals working in the oil sector, equipping them with the skills needed to maximise the potential of this transformative technology. Our training empowers oil rig professionals to conduct detailed inspections, monitor critical infrastructure, and respond swiftly to emergencies, all while ensuring the highest standards of safety and regulatory compliance.
The Zeta drone course is our 4-day, combined General Visual Line of Sight Certificate (GVC) and A2 Certificate of Competency (A2 CofC), Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) accredited drone training course, and aims to train students how to fly safely and manipulate sensors to support a wide range of drone applications.
All candidates will be expected to complete pre-course online learning through our e-learning platform, which will be followed by 2 days of classroom-based, instructor led theory. This will culminate in a written examination before you begin your flight training, which you will use to start preparing for your flight assessment on the final day of the course.
After students successfully complete the theory training and pass the examination, they will attain the A2 CofC. This achievement grants them permission to engage in flying within the Open category (low risk). Following this accomplishment, when students effectively complete the flight assessment along with an EEI-ratified Operation Manual they will receive a GVC. This qualification empowers them to seek operational authorisation from the CAA for conducting flights within the Specific category (increased risk).
There is an NVQ Level 3 and Level 4 bolt on available on all of our Zeta courses, both of which are eligible for ELCAS funding. Find out more here.

Overall, it was the best formal course I've undertaken in over 30 years in the military. Thank you. Zeta Central Student
A great day and learned a huge amount. Definitely interested in a a further bespoke advanced flying day perhaps next year. Thanks Tim! Bespoke Flying Day Student
Really good day with Matt and Ian. I think we all cam e away feeling far more confident with the M30T and night flying in particular. Environment Agency
Did this for work (military). First time flying a drone and got competent quite quickly and the theory was heavy but taught well enough for a high pass on it. The instructor was former Forces so there was No BS. Really enjoyed it. Zeta South Student
Highly recommended. The instructors are very knowledgeable, patient and provide thorough training. Very enjoyable day. Many thanks. South West Water
An outstanding week of training, both theory and practical flying. Extremely knowledgeable and approachable instructors who made the learning as easy and efficient as possible. This has prepared me extremely well for my RPAS job role. Zeta Central Student
You need to have an RPC-L1 Aeroplane qualification to begin this course, as this will build upon the fundamentals of fixed wing flying to convert you to type on our impressive DeltaQuad Evo RPAS. What’s more, you will also learn how to use the exceptional Auterion Mission Planner, which is the brains of the operation when using DeltaQuad. This is a VLOS course only, although we have the ability to further expand on this into the BVLOS environment, provided the correct regulatory approvals are established. Experience this cutting-edge VTOL RPAS now and let us show you how it can further benefit your operations.
Our new 1-day Observers course is designed to expand your RPAS crewing capabilities and de-risk more complex operations through the provision of professionally qualified RPAS safety observers. Utilising proven aviation standards and procedures, our professional and
experienced instructors will guide you through the fundamentals of Crew Resource Management, crew communications, RPAS control and coordination and give you the practical experience you need to maximise the benefits of your RPAS for VLOS operations and beyond.
If you hold a valid GVC and want to convert to an RPC-L1 qualification in the same category of UAS, under the CAA you are exempt from conducting the theory elements of the course and may progress directly to the practical elements. Therefore, you simply need to book
onto either our conversion course or the practical days of a full RPC-L1 course (provided there is capacity to fit you in). This will provide you with the minimum of 2-hours flight instruction before you attempt the flight assessment. Proof of GVC validity will be required prior to conducting the training.
This course is designed to qualify you in either Rotorcraft or Aeroplane, noting that you only need to conduct the practical aspects of the course, provided you have successfully passed the full Level 1 course in the other discipline.
(Please note this does not include conversion onto our DeltaQuad platform; that is a bespoke course in its own right).
