Health, Safety and Security Officer

Role Overview

The Health, Safety and Security Officer reports to the Total Safety Manager and is responsible for developing and maintaining Health, Safety and Environmental systems, supporting audits, and preparing the organisation for future certifications.

The role ensures compliance with all legal, regulatory and contractual requirements, while promoting a positive safety, environmental and security culture across the organisation. It also acts as the Security Manager for SC and DV clearance environments, ensuring adherence to government security standards, protecting sensitive information, and overseeing secure operational practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading HSE initiatives and promoting a strong safety culture
  • Advising on incidents, investigations and corrective actions
  • Managing audits, inspections and compliance documentation
  • Supporting environmental management (including ISO 14001)
  • Overseeing risk assessments, reporting processes and risk registers
  • Managing organisational security and SC/DV clearance processes

About you

  • NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum)
  • Strong knowledge of UK H&S legislation
  • Experience in audits, risk assessments and investigations
  • Confident, organised, and able to work independently
  • Security clearance experience (SC/DV)
