Drones have proven to be an invaluable asset to the construction industry, offering unparalleled benefits from site surveying to safety monitoring. Utilising drone technology can significantly enhance efficiency, accuracy, and safety in construction projects. EEI provide comprehensive drone training programmes tailored specifically for the construction industry, equipping professionals with the skills needed to maximise the potential of this cutting-edge technology.
How can drones help the CONSTRUCTION IndustrY?
- Site Surveying and Mapping – drones provide high-resolution aerial imagery and 3D mapping, enabling accurate site surveys and topographical assessments. This technology helps in planning and design, reducing the time and cost associated with traditional surveying methods.
- Inspection and Maintenance – inspect hard-to-reach areas such as roofs, bridges, and tall structures, identifying potential issues like cracks, corrosion, or structural weaknesses. This proactive approach helps in maintenance planning and reducing downtime.
- Environmental Monitoring – monitor environmental conditions around construction sites, such as dust, noise levels, and water quality, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and minimising ecological impact.
- Safety and Compliance – enhance site safety by performing inspections in hazardous areas without putting workers at risk. They can also help ensure compliance with safety regulations by providing comprehensive site overviews.
- Progress Monitoring – regular drone flights can capture real-time progress images and videos, allowing project managers to monitor construction progress remotely. This improves project management and ensures timely completion of tasks.
- Volume Measurement – drones equipped with advanced sensors can accurately measure stockpile volumes and material quantities, aiding in inventory management and cost estimation.

All candidates will be expected to complete pre-course online learning through our e-learning platform, which will be followed by 2 days of classroom-based, instructor led theory. This will culminate in a written examination before you begin your flight training, which you will use to start preparing for your flight assessment on the final day of the course.
After students successfully complete the theory training and pass the examination, they will attain the A2 CofC. This achievement grants them permission to engage in flying within the Open category (low risk). Following this accomplishment, when students effectively complete the flight assessment along with an EEI-ratified Operation Manual they will receive a GVC. This qualification empowers them to seek operational authorisation from the CAA for conducting flights within the Specific category (increased risk).
