Military Training

Over years of continuous combat operations, the use of Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS) within the military has significantly evolved.

These adaptations are reflected in the growth of platforms available and their expanding capabilities, which have considerably increased the military’s ability to gather intelligence, conduct surveillance and reconnaissance missions to gain essential Situational Awareness. RPAS offer an agile, dedicated and specialist capability which is an enduring, and critical enabler to any force.  Quickly deployable, cost effective solution that reduces manpower requirements, offers a unique view from above, but more importantly provides ground commanders with a real-time view of a situation as they develop.

Eagle Eye Innovations, Remote Unmanned Systems Training Academy (RUSTA) instructors are all Ex-Military or Emergency Services personnel and have vast experience in both manned and unmanned aircraft, conducting RPAS missions within Segregated Airspace.

RUSTA has the only trained experienced Instructors in the industry, who were integral in the integration of RPAS within Military Segregated Airspace at all RAF Main Operating Bases within the UK. Allowing operation of RPAS alongside 5th Generation Fixed Wing Aircraft as well as Rotary Wing assets.

Although all RUSTA courses are delivered to a CAA approved syllabus, the classroom theory content is made relevant to the audience roles and responsibilities referencing to real life scenarios through RPAS experience gained through operational deployments within the UK or around the world. Additionally, RUSTA will include mandatory Military Aviation Authority (MAA) documentation such as the RA1600, and have in depth expertise regarding the Military Aviation Authority requirements for RA 1600 Series to Operate RPAS and can assist military units with its compliance to categorisation.

All of RUSTA’s courses are designed to the Defence Systems Approach to Training (DSAT) protocol which is familiar to all serving personnel in any of the UK’s Armed Forces.

At the end of the theory training the candidate will sit a CAA approved theory test requiring a minimum 75% pass mark.

The flying phase of the training can be carried out on your own RPAS or on RUSTA’S supplied industry standard multirotor aircraft. The flying syllabus covers all the mandated elements required by the CAA and utilises a structured approach starting with multiple Air Handling exercises, Emergency Procedures and Mission Elements, with scenarios covering Intelligence, Surveillance & Recognisance (ISR) exercises. All training follows a systematic process with key learning objectives and ongoing assessment ending with a CAA Flight Assessment. On achieving the required standard, the candidate will be issued the A2 Certificate of Competency (A2 CofC) and the General Visual Line Of Sight Certificate (GVC).

RUSTA has, to date, delivered CAA accredited courses to the RAF, Army and Navy and is proud to deliver training back to the most professional Armed Forces in the world.
